1 year...and WOW!

My little bear is one year old. I have had many tears over that last couple days remembering how he started in life and the prognosis he was given. He has been incredible with his achievements and is truly a little angel to be around.

He has recently had his one-yr follow-up with his Pediatrician, Opthamologist, Early Intervention, and OT/PT. Every one is impressed and he is measuring as would be any other 12 month old! He is close to walking (uses furniture) says a couple words, pretends to cry!, eating solids, using sippy cups, etc. There is no evidence of CP or delays or any issues whatsoever at this point. As happy as I am however, I am so scared to be happy over it....am I out of the clear? I guess there is still the possiblity of learning/speech delays but hopefully nothing major. He is just such a trooper. He wants so bad to be a big boy like his older brother (2 1/2 yrs), so not much has slowed him down.

We will continue with Early Intervention and OT, but only every 2-3 months now rather than every month. I guess we just continue stimulating his as much as possible and continue to hope fo the best. Just wish I could read the future. I am scared to relax too much!

It's been awhile...11 months old (< 9 mos corrected)

A long time since I've lasted updated our blog...but a lot of great milestones have been achieved! Barrett has continued to amaze us with his achievements. He has been saying 'ma-ma' (which melts my heart), 'da-da', and 'na-na'. He is also showing to be a VERY determined baby, although that has been obvious from the beginning! After we returned from our numerous holiday adventures, Barrett decided it was time to crawl. He has also started pulling himself up on furniture. We haven't had a physio appt. for a couple months, but I have no reason to be worried about anything at this point. He is coming along just as I would hope for. He also has gotten his first 4 teeth this month! Made for some grumpy days/nights, but hopefully will make eating food a bit easier ; )

Barrett also has been enjoying playing with his big brother (2 1/2yrs) more than life itself lately. That was definately the motivation to crawl...to get his brother's toys or cheerios. I am sad to see him growing up so fast after enjoying his tiny little self for so long : ( Although, every stage just keeps getting cuter and more exciting as he develops his own personality.

It's been a great couple weeks! Grandparents were here to visit so Barrett decided he had to show off. He's rolling all over now and even sitting up on his own! He still falls off to the side eventually, but doing really well. Had a visit with the Physiotherapist today, she was impressed on how great he is doing. He is taking his time with all the milestones, but still completing within his corrected age range. Which is somedays I think is just great...he is growing up too fast as it is! He was 17 lbs and 8oz today!

Careful what you wish for!

So, I was so excited for him to roll over...now I can't get him to stop!! He just needs to figure out a bit better how to roll back onto his his back. I am having to get up a couple times in the night to roll him back from his tummy - lol.

He seems to have really changed with his developments the last month. Seems so much more active and wanting to grab at everything. Also developing quite the little 'personality'. Still a VERY happy little guy who would just like to play all day. He is also loving his exersaucer and jump-a-roo lately. Thinks he's pretty cool jumping up and down!

Rolled over today!

So after months of waiting, weeks of slight worrying, Barrett finally rolled from his back to tummy! And just in time for his Physio check-in on Saturday ; ) I swore I wouldn't worry like this, but what a sense of relief I feel. Only one of many milestones that he as already met and has yet to meet...but I have learned to appreciate every one for everything that it is worth! He is just rolling over towards one side still, but we will continue practicing for the other.

Okay - getting worried that he has not yet rolled over. I can't believe how hard it is to not think about meeting milestones.

My latest love!

So I finally gave in....and purchased a BOB Duallie stroller! I love, love, love it! We spend a lot of time outdoors, so this is going to make life so much simplier.
